sooo, today i went to photographers' gallery to see works by sally mann, as i actually planned yesterday.
and i don't think i can even describe what i saw and how i felt when i actually saw her photos. to say it in short - haunting and mysterious, i guess.
apart from being just beautiful, there is a lot of meaning in her work, but i just couldn't figure it out for now, however i'm quite proud to say that unlike most people, who see pornography, abuse and other stupid stuff in her photos, i didn't feel sally was even thinking about these themes.
i just loved the series of photos with her children and also the ones, where there are bodies (?) or objects (it was quite unclear, actually) lying on the ground...hmm..symbolising death? ah and yes, there was a particular one with the skull - sooo beautiful, i was staring at it blankly like for 10 minutes and thinking about what did sally wanted to say with this one.
and what i really loved about her works is that you cant take your eyes off them.
nowadays they are a lot of good photos, but they don't capture your attention, they don't make you feel anyhow differently inside.....nice pictures with good composition and colours, and nothing more.
sally's work is just sooo deep...jesus =)
i guees i'm gonna go one more time before the exhibition closes to see her work once again.
